SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS

• Led a multi-disciplinary development team at the most successful software company in the world (Microsoft).  The team of 7 software engineers, plus writers and graphic designers, produced the Reader's Digest Complete Do-It-Yourself Guide multimedia CD-ROM title for Windows. The project was delivered on time, meeting all quality goals.
• Led development of an application that won a 'Windows 100' award from Windows Magazine.  This award represents the magazine's rating of the product in the top 100 of 5000 software and hardware products for that year. The product, Clip-Art Window Shopper, was ahead of its time in enabling users to purchase and download binary clip art files before HTML and the Worldwide Web were invented.
• Serving with the original OLE 1.0 team, and then with the Microsoft Windows 3.1 team, incorporated the new technology of OLE 1.0 into Windows Write.  OLE was a highly visible and strategic initiative of interest at the highest levels in Microsoft.
• For a Fortune 4 company (Ford), designed, wrote, and delivering ahead of schedule code that served content to every page of the company's flagship website (Ford.com).  The code was written in Java and JSP, served up content transformed from XML, and included a maintenance application and high quality User's and Developer's Guides.
• On a Microsoft project whose development lead and content developer each unexpectedly and simultaneously departed, took the initiative to undertake some of each person's responsibilities, keeping the project on schedule and leading it to a successful market release (Julia Child's Home Cooking With Master Chefs multimedia CD-ROM title).
• Meeting an urgent deadline, virtually single-handedly implemented a multi-component system for handling mission-critical incoming and outgoing (SMS) messages to and from cell phones.   The architecture spanned a web site, three web services, two windows services, and two Sql Server databases.
• Wrote a multi-dimensional data visualization application (Visuals) that, upon completion, was adopted by a major statistical software company (SAS Institute).

B.S. Botanical Science, 1977, Miami University of Ohio. Specialized in genetics and alpine ecology.
